Airfix A02335 1:76 Scale Matilda Hedgehog Military Vehicles Classic Kit Series 2 OverviewsDetailed 1/76 scale assembly model kit of the Infantry Tank Mark II.A., Matilda II Mk III, a World War II era battle tank of Great Britain developed by the Royal Arsenal and produced by Vulcan Foundry. The Matilda II tank was well armored and armed with 3 inch frontal armor plate and fitted with a 40 mm Ordnance QF 2-pounder main gun. However, the type's 180 horsepower engine and troublesome suspension was at times, less than adequate to support its massive weight, resulting in a top speed of a mere 15 mph on-road and 9 mph off-road. Matilda II tanks served effectively during the early stages of World War II in both France and North Africa until the type encountered rapid maneuvering German panzers fitted with highly effective 88 mm anti-tank guns. This Airfix 1/76 assembly kit features the Matilda Hedgehog, officially known as the Matilda Projector, Hedgehog, No. 1 Mark I. The Matilda Hedgehog was developed by the Australian Army, and the type was fitted with a Hedgehog 7-chambered spigot mortar in an armored box on the rear hull.
